karaagac vs. blago
I kept having this weird feeling of familiarity seeing blagojevich all over the news lately. I finally figured out why…a professor I had a few semesters back, John Karaagac, basically is blagojevich. Judge for yourself…

I’m a little behind the curve on this one, but still hilarious. I’m not sure that I would watch snl at all anymore if it wasn’t for Andy Samberg.
christmas break in 08
I returned home for break and realized I have this great thing called free time again!
A busy semester of classes, job hunting, and interviewing kept me pretty distracted, but I think I might start posting again. Expect more soon.

New Linens-N-Shit Opens via the onion
The photo caption makes the article: “The store even offers a service for customers to pull around back and strap a bunch of shit to the tops of their cars.”
The reasonable man adapts himself to the conditions that surround him. The...
– George Bernard Shaw (via topherchris)
I disagree, the reasonable man is necessary to create progress because you can’t develop as a person without the ability to adapt internally to the external. As the unreasonable man works tirelessly to alter his surroundings, he fails himself by not learning...
news?
Newspapers are using the midsummer doldrums as an excuse to run more bogus trend stories than ever. It’s a growing—and troubling—phenomenon. [via gawker]
“I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon.” -John McCain
reason 48372 that I will be voting for Obama despite my predominately republican views
side note: my grandma can get online, where have you been McCain?
Stuff White People Like: Unpaid Internships
“In most of the world when a person works long hours without pay, it is referred to as ‘slavery’ or ‘forced labor.’ For white people this process is referred to as an internship and is considered an essential stage in white development.”
“White people view the internship as their foot into the door to such high-profile low-paying career fields as...
Economic Leaders Get a Face-Lift For Slow Economy
The Wall Street Journal has resketched images of business and ecomonic leaders to make them look a little less excited next to articles about our economy tanking. (via gawker)
my new bike--not as exciting as biking as a kid
Turns out riding around traffic, on real streets, in a one foot wide bike lane/”we have a 22 year old bike accident victim” lane is scary.
it's always sunny
jeffrubinjeffrubin:
FX has ordered fifty two new episodes of the criminally underrated It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. There will be 13 episodes in the coming-soon fourth season, and then 39 past that.

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am about this.

it must be tough being so rich and famous and banging 80’s pop icons. also, that kid’s expression makes this picture.

the day Jeopardy lost me as a viewer
Wow. This is the $1,600 dollar question under the category “TV Women” on last night’s Jeopardy. Sadness.
Stolen from here.
Oh hai...can i haz last year's news todayz
” The Wall Street Journal would like to inform you about 4chan.org, a “website” that starts “memes” such as “LOLCats,” which is “humorous images of cats with loud text beneath them in a fake language,” and the “Rick Roll,” an “online bait-and-switch” that sends you to “the music video of Rick Astley’s...

Epuron Wind from Christos on Vimeo. Found this commercial a while back, but had completely forgotten about it until I came across it again today. Hysterically funny, and ingenious. I wish all advertisements could be so clever.

This reminds me of the old jakeandamirs that I know and love. See all of them here, though I personally suggest the earliest ones.
Why Vimeo is Better Than YouTube
Vimeo is exponentially better than youtube in everyway. Sadly, the tacky and mostly uneducated masses that flock to youtube and myspace will never know this.

I want my inbox to automatically update when it’s open in a another tab, so while I’m working, I can look up and see that I have new mail, instead of refreshing.
I wonder if this service already exists somewhere…?
in fake news
This American Life Completes Documentation Of Liberal, Upper-Middle-Class Existence This Onion article is old, but I just discovered it. I happen to be a huge This American Life fan, and the onion has it exactly right, hilarious. Also, I added a picture of Ira Glass, because I want to have his babies.
the tumblr we love to hate
I have to say I thought the same thing that the gawker staff did about Jakob Lodwick’s recent tumblr post. It’s kind of interesting that we all seem to think the same thing about Lodwick’s tumblr, yet none of us can stop reading and reblogging his posts—myself included. I think he has it figured out.
Then again, hardly anyone reads my tumblr, so, moot point.
news to me
Flipping through my google reader a moment ago I went from the onion’s feed to cnn’s feed, but then got distracted and walked away. When I came back I continued reading, still thinking I was reading headlines from the onion. The sad part, the headlines sort of fit, and it took me a while to realize I wasn’t on the onion anymore. What does that say about journalism?
